Für uns war von Anfang der Reiseplanung klar: wir müssen nach Neuseeland! Nachdem Caro mir so viele schöne Bilder gezeigt hatte, planten wir eine Reiseroute, die beide Inseln abdeckt. Drei Wochen lang sind wir in einem süßen kleinen Mietwagen durch die Gegend gefahren. Zum Zelten war es einfach zu kalt, da in Neuseeland gerade Winter ist und wir in viele Bergregionen wollten. Unser erste Woche verbrachten wir auf Neuseelands Nordinsel. Auckland hat uns ganz gut gefallen, besonders der moderne neue Pier war wirklich toll. Aber wir konnten es gar nicht abwarten aus der Stadt zu kommen, denn schließlich waren wir vor allem wegen der tollen Natur in Neuseeland. Unseren ersten Stops waren die Whangerei Wasserfälle und Cape Reigna. Hier treffen sich der Pazifische Ozean und das Tansanische Meer und man kann tatsächlich sehen, wie die beiden Wassermassen vor der Koste aufeinander treffen. Auf dem Rückweg machten wir noch bei gigantischen Sanddünen halt und surften auf Sandbords hinunter (Arvin ein Pro wie immer, ich weniger elegant).
Since we planned to go on a little adventure it was clear for us that we wanted to visit New Zealand. My sister went here after she finished school for a couple of months and I loved all the pictures she showed me. We toured the islands three weeks with a cute little rental car. Camping was not an option since it is winter here and we went to a lot of mountain regions. The first week we spent on New Zealands Nord Island. Auckland was a fun place, especially the new harbor promenade. But we could not wait to get out of the city, because it is New Zelanads beautiful nature that we really wanted to see. Our fist stop where the Whangerei waterfalls and Cape Reigna. Here you can see the Pacific ocean and the Tasman sea clash. It is really fascinating. On our way back we stopped at some massive sand dunes and we were able to surf on them with sad boards (Arvin looked like a pro as usual, I did not).

Weiter ging es auf die Coromandel Halbinsel um die Cathedral Cove zu sehen. Eine riesige Aushöhlung eines Fels direkt am Strand. Auf dem Weg hierher stellten wir fest, dass es tatsächlich tausende Schafe in Neuseeland gibt.
After that we drove to the Cathedral Rock at the Coromandel peninsula, a nice caved out rock at the beach. On our way we saw thousands of sheep!

Als große Fans von Der Herr der Ringe mussten wir natürlich das Filmset Hobbiton besuchen. Hier stehen über 40 Hobbithöhlen auf dem Land eines armen Schaffarmers der von Peter Jackson auf der Suche nach Filmsets mehr oder weniger überfallen wurde. Das kleine Dörfchen liegt in mitten der Schafweiden des Farmers, die kleinen Hügel sind wunderschön grün. Es hat super viel Spaß gemacht sich alles anzuschauen und man lernt, was für ein Perfektionist Jackson sein muss.
Since we are fans of the Lord of the Rings we had to visit Hobbiton, the movie filmset. You can visit over 40 hobbit houses an the land of a poor sheep farmer that happened to have exactly the land that Peter Jackson was looking for when he scouted for movie sets. The small village lies in between little hills with beautiful green gras. We had a lot of fun and we learned that Jackson really is a perfectionist when it comes to little details.
